An ambassador for women in the carpentry trade, Gail Tamakam, from Vanuatu has been in the construction industry for over 20 years and working with men is nothing new for her.

Students and alumni of the Australia Pacific Training Coalition’s (APTC) education support and early childhood education and care training helped spread the magic of picture books and distributed ‘buckets of learning’ to celebrate Kindy Day in Port Vila and Santo.

The Australia Pacific Training Coalition’s (APTC) carpentry students in Vanuatu translated their classroom learning into community work by installing pelmets as part of the roof structure in the local community hall in Mele-Waisisi. Pelmets are often an overlooked part of a building structure that provide a smooth finish to construction, concealing curtain rods and the like.
